Full Description

<1> The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1999, FamilySearch, Handforth St Chad (Web Site). SCH8964.

Handforth St Chad was created as a chapel of ease to Cheadle St Mary's to relieve the journey of nearly five miles to St Mary’s Church in Cheadle. The Chapel was consecrated on 29th June 1837.

The tithe map for the township depicts the chapel of ease within a small enclosed area, which may have been used for burials.

This map depicts the chapel building which is labelled as Church (Chapel of Ease). The surrounding area is described as a graveyard.
