Monument record 15182 - Site of the Scala Cinema

Scala Cinema built in 1912 and designed by Clegg and Lloyd. It has a mutilated frontage, but has retained one of the two original domed octagonal roof terminations.

Originally opened as the Palace Kinema on the 20th March 1913. The cinema was renamed in the late 1920s as the Scala Cinema. It closed as a cinema in 1957 and was converted into a dance hall. The building was used as a bingo hall from 1970 to 2006.
