31, MAIN STREET (West Side): Former stables to Halton House, now a dwelling, late C18, red sandstone with slate roof 2 storeys 5 bays. Squared rubble walls, three Gothic windows to ground floor with rendered surrounds, stone sills and cast iron lattice casements. Six panel door with narrow rendered surround. Square pitch hole at first floor level blocked internally and filled with unglazed pair of lattice casements. Sandstone copings to gables.
