Building record 15077 - Dairy House Farmhouse

Farmhouse: early eighteenth century with some small nineteenth and twentieth century alterations. English garden wall bond orange brick. Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge and four brick chimneys. Two and two and a half storey seven-bay south front. Raised brick band at first floor. Right three bays of two and a half storeys have three-light twentieth century copies of wooden mullioned and transomed windows with glazing bars under flat wedged brick heads flanking added gabled porch with a four-panelled door behind. Above is a mullioned and transomed window in a gabled half dormer. Three bays to left, of two storeys, are part of original building with similar mullioned and transomed windows and a blocked fire window below two-light casements above. Left end bay is part of an added then converted farm building. To rear are original windows with one of the top panels sliding horizontally. Interior: has dogleg oak stair with square newels, heavy square handrail and a similar rail halfway down. Two three-board doors in lower storeys and complete set to attic. Chamfered ceiling beams and firebeam in room at left end, and a room to rear still is a dairy with stone flag ledges and central table.
