A complex of probable medieval or post medieval boundaries and enclosures to the south-east of the village of Churton is visible as earthworks centred at approximately SJ 4222 5629 on lidar imagery (see 2) and remains extant on the latest 2010 aerial photography (see 3). The complex are potentially settlement remains associated with an earlier phase of the present day village and form a series of rectilinear enclosures or fields, at least one of which appears to enclose contemporary ridge and furrow ploughing. The boundaries are largely comprised of earthwork banks, ditches or a combination of both.
