Building record 14973 - Bollin Towers , Alderley Edge

Large villa now 2 houses: 1846 possibly by and for J Rogers, some later C19 additions and mid C20 rebuild of west portion. Rock-faced brown sandstone, Welsh slate roof and 4 stone chimneys. 2 and 3-storey irregular 10-bay south front. Irregular masses step forward and back with castellations along the roof line; wooden mullioned and transomed windows with hood moulds, some with segmental heads. Towards left is an octagonal turret of 4 stages with a small and higher octagonal lookout turret corbelled out from its side. The Stanley eagle is carved on the side. A central ashlar porch has been added and contains a fanlight and half-glazed door. To the rear it has been roughcast.

A blackened stone tower with a smaller turret clinging to it. There are two unequal square pele towers. House was put up in 1844-5 along with The Gables next door which share the same driveway. House divided into 2 in 1952 and now it is three.

Bollin Tower, dated 1846; rock faced, picturesque and castellated, with a tower and higher turret poking out of the trees.
