Summary

Non-archaeological groundworks to the east of Forest House, Forest St. in 1929 revealed a heavy burnt area, apparently Roman, and pottery dating from the Flavian period (AD 69 - 96) to the late second century.

Full Description

An extension to the Co-op Store, north of Forest Street, in 1929, revealed a heavy burnt area, apparently Roman, measuring c 4.57m by 2.74m, and a pottery assemblage dating from the Flavian period to the later second century (1).
