Monument record 14941 - Linear Cropmarks East of Hunsterton Four Lane End

Aerial imagery published on Google Maps (see 2) and believed to date from the summer of 2018, depict an extensive area of linear cropmarks. In general these cropmarks correspond with field boundaries depicted on nineteenth century historic maps (see 3 & 4). The field boundaries in the southern part of the area display a slight aratral curve (reversed S shape), indicating that they were at least influenced by medieval land divisions. Also within this area is a possible north-west to south-east aligned trackway, which turns at its north-western end to the south-west. The field boundaries in the northern part of this area are more irregular and are probably associated with assarting in the vicinity of Pepperstreet Moss.
