This map depicts a sub rectangular pond c.95m x 30m to the immediate east and north-east of Glebe Farm (also known as the Old Rectory). It is labelled 'Fish Pond' and tapers at its northern end. The southern end is square and is directly adjacent to the earthworks which form part of the possible formal gardens (CHER 1162/1).
<2> Cartildge, Rev. J.E. Gordon, 1915, Newbold Astbury and Its History, p.19-21 (Book). SCH2249.
This pond may have been a water feature associated with the formal gardens, as at Gawsworth, but may also have its origins as a fish pond associated with the manorial site.
