<1> Higham N J, 1984-9, Professor Nick Higham's Aerial Photographs, 1987/E/35, 1987/F/15, 1987/F/17-20, 1987/F/25-26, 1987/F/30, 1987/F/33-34, 31/01/1987 (Aerial Photograph). SCH7659.

Three or four parallel linear earthworks aligned north-west to south-east are visible in a field to the immediate south-east of Utkinton House. These features are truncated by a linear earthwork aligned north-north-east to south-south-west.

<2> Various, Various, Oral communication to the HER, Edwards R, 30/11/2018 (Oral Communication). SCH2330.

The later near north-south linear earthwork corresponds with the Severn-Vyrnwy aqueduct depicted on the second edition 25" to 1 mile Ordnance Survey map of 1898 (see 3 and CHER 2655). Two of the other linear earthworks correspond with field boundaries depicted on the 1838 tithe map (see 4) for the township and are therefore probably former field boundaries.

<3> Ordnance Survey, 1896-1898, Ordnance Survey First Revision County Series (Epoch 2) 25 inch to 1 mile - Cheshire, SJ5665, 1898 (Maps and Plans). SCH3848.

<4> See map for surveyor, c.1837-51, Cheshire Tithe Maps and Awards, EDT 150/3, 1838 (Maps and Plans). SCH3266.
