Full Description

‘…Modern wooden foot bridge spanning Clough Brook constructed on the stone piers of an 18th or 19th century footbridge. The stone piers are built from coursed sandstone blocks. The older footbridge was built sometime before 1849, the date of the earliest available detailed map of the area [see 2]…’

This map depicts and labels the bridge.

Given the association of this bridge with the route between Flash and Macclesfield (see CHER: 14359), it is possible that this was originally a packhorse bridge.
