Full Description

<1> Peak District National Park Archaeology Service, 2003, Blaze Farm Archaeological Field Survey for the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark Scheme, p.7 (Client Report). SCH8567.

‘…Two banks and three lynchets marking the sites of removed field boundaries. It is possible that these boundaries defined the edges of a small enclosure, possibly used for stock control. Of post-medieval and possibly earlier date.

The lynchets and banks are up to 0.8m high. With the exception of the northern lynchet and adjacent lynchet on the east side the boundaries that they mark are not shown on any available map suggesting they went out of use sometime before 1850, the date of the earliest available detailed map of the area [see 2]. The other two boundaries were created sometime before 1850 and were removed sometime between that date and 1880 [see 2 & 3]...’
