‘…The traditional buildings are of 18th or 19th century date. They comprise a substantial farmhouse (which has been converted from an outbuilding) with a small square outbuilding to the south (photographed), which was formerly three times longer. To the south-west of the farmhouse are the sites of two small square outbuildings documented as existing in the 20th century. In a yard boundary wall to the south of the farmhouse is a small iron stove that has been recently inserted into the wall…'

'...The farmhouse and outbuilding were built sometime before 1849, the date of the earliest available detailed map of the area [see 2]. Although, on the 1849 map the outbuilding was three times longer than it is now. On the 1842 Ordnance Survey map of the area a farmstead is shown called 'Alders'. On maps from the 1880 Ordnance Survey map [see 3] of the area the farmstead is called 'Underbank'. Sometime between 1880 and 1899 half of the outbuilding to the south of the farmhouse was removed [see 3 & 4]. Sometime between 1899 and 1909 two small square building were constructed to the southwest of the farmhouse, these were removed sometime after the latter date [see 4 & 5]…’
