Excavations in 2018 at the former Stagecoach site, Liverpool Road, Chester, recorded three ditches cut into the natural bedrock, centred at SJ 40441 67021, in trench 8. One ditch was aligned north-east to south-west, 0.55m deep and was 1.55m in width; its fill produced a sherd of locally sourced oxidised ware of Roman date. The second ditch, interpreted as a boundary ditch, had an east-west alignment and was 1m wide and 0.4m deep. The third ditch, also aligned east-west, was 1.16m wide and 0.6m deep. The fill contained a single sherd of pottery of second to third century AD date.
