‘…The design brief for the new headquarters was to construct a building with a traditional exterior and a modern high-quality interior capable of handling IT demands and offering flexibility of layout to respond to future changes. The building also had to be designed to have minimal impact upon its environment and complement existing buildings, including Fulshaw Hall and Harefield House, and to ensure that the landscaped surroundings enhanced working conditions. The building was completed in October 1987 and staff moved into the building in November 1987…’

The building's inner curve faces north-west and the main entrance is located at the western end on a raised access deck.
