‘…The gully, possibly representing a drain, and rubbish pits cut layers containing 16th century pottery sherds. They were dug in the late 16th, 17th and early 18th centuries. Some of the pottery sherds found in the gully and pits (52) and (56) could indicate late medieval activity in in the area but the later material is a truer indication of the date of the pits and gully. The broken bricks in pits (43) and (46) suggest the demolition of a brick structure in the vicinity…’

‘…No satisfactory explanation can be given for the north-south aligned linear cut nor the earlier east-west cut. The two shallow sub-rectangular cuts represent rubbish pits from the 18th century and the three earlier cuts are 16th century and medieval…’
