Summary

The Tithe map for Bunbury, circa 1842, depicts two buildings within a plot on the east side of Burwardsley Road. The accompanying apportionment records the following information: Plot 109, 'House, Garden etc', owned by John Lightfoot and occupied by Samuel Rhoden. The buildings and plot are also depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of 1872-82 along with the name 'Cherrytree Farm'. On the OS Second map (1896-98), the central building is only depicted in part, with just the northern wall remaining, indicating that it has been largely demolished by this date. However the second building, which is located immediately to the north of Burwardsley Road, is still present and is labelled 'Smithy'. This 'Smithy' building still exists and it is possible that there may be below-ground remains of the other building still in situe.
