Summary

The Tithe map for Crowton depicts a single building within a small plot (plot 369) east of Marsh Lane. The accompanying apportionment records the plot name as 'House & Garden', owned by John Woodward and occupied by Peter Lewis. Ordnance Survey First Edition mapping (1872-82) also depicts the plot and a building, although the location of the building is different, being located at the west end of the plot, rather than the east, as on the Tithe map. The Second and Third edition OS maps (1896-98, 1909-12) also depict this building along with a second building just to the east of the first. Air photographs dating to the 1940s show the buildings and plot still to be extant, however, 1970s air photographs, show the site to be totally levelled.
