Summary

The settlement of Checkley Green originally extended further to the south of its present extent. Historic maps show a number of farmsteads and cottages with their associated gardens and orchards. All the buildings and other above ground features had been removed by the early 1990s.

A group of buildings, plots and lanes are depicted on this map. The acompanying award describes then as homesteads, cottages and gardens.

Many of the plots are depicted as orchards and one of the farmsteads is labelled Checkleygreen Farm.

Few of the farmsteads are still extant and all of the orchards are gone.
