Summary

Excavation at Gorsestacks in 2015/16 identified post holes and linear slots interpreted as a the remains of a timber structure. Outside this are were gullies and a charcoal flecked deposit. Pottery finds date this period of activity to AD 70–90

Full Description

<1> Earthworks Archaeological Services, 2017, New Bus Interchange Site at Gorse Stacks. A final report on the Archaeological Excavations 2015-2016 (Client Report). SCH8440.

Excavation at Gorsestack in 2015/16 identified a linear gully aligned north-east to south-west . A single pit was located at the north-east end of this gully. Finds including a bronze bracelet and roman pottery date this to the late 2nd century
