Please read our .

Summary

Late medieval or post medieval agricultural earthworks, in the form of ridge and furrow cultivation, have been identified from air photographs in the field to the south-west of Blackden Manor. Also visible were earthworks defining the course of a former road leading to Blackden Manor from the south-west; this road is depicted on the tithe map for Goostrey. Later extractive pits cut through the ridge and furrow in the northern extent of the field. The most recent LIDAR survey data shows that the earthworks have been levelled, however subsurface archaeological remains may survive.
