Full Description
<1> L-P Archaeology, 2015, Weaver Street, Chester. Archaeological Evaluation Report (Client Report). SCH7991.
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in 2015 on land off Weaver Street in advance of a residential housing development. It recorded a substantial stone wall with a north-south alignment. Although in the vicinity of a known Roman granary building (8335), the wall was of larger dimensions and different character to the Roman remains. It has been suggested that it could relate to the Carmelite friary recorded to the south (10334) although Commonhall Street is thought to mark the northern boundary of the friary. Alternatively the wall could represent part of a secular medieval building perhaps originally fronting on to Commonhall Street.
