Summary

Grade II Listed Georgian country mansion built probably in the late eighteenth century. Home of the Marshall industrialist family from 1774 to 1924 who were important figures in the Cheshire salt industry. Re-building of the house is said to have taken place in 1820 which tallies with its Neoclassical appearance. A service wing was attached to the rear of the house in the mid nineteenth century and a ballroom extension on the east side is thought to date from 1902. The property appears to have become offices by the mid twentieth century and was 'restored' in 1982, before it was listed; the large western extension dates to this time. Attached to the rear of the mansion is an L-shaped group of outbuildings, probably dating to the early-mid nineteenth century.
