Possible Iron Age/Roman ditch boundary, West of Cledford Hall. The ditch was identified in four separate trial trenches excavated in advance of the Middlewich Eastern Bypass in 2003. It is orientated north-south, measures 1.8m wide and between 0.4m and 0.75m deep, with gradual slopiing sides and a flat base. A single piece of Roman pottery was recovered from the ditch, although this may well be re-deposited. Potentially significantly, Roman field systems have been recorded approximately 1.5km to the north-east.
