Full Description

The award records a house, outbuildings, yard, gardens and tan yard in the ownership and occupied by William Amery.

Depicts 'Preston Tannery'. Tannery House is located at the northern end of the site adjacent to Chester Road. Outbuildings lie to the immediate south-east. At the southern end of the site is a complex of buildings. Between two of the larger buildings are a regular grid of structures which may be tanning pits. A pond or reservoir lies to the immediate south-east.

The area of the possible tanning pits (see 2) has been replaced by a large building. A large rectangular reservoir has been constructed on the south-eastern side of the site.

Most of the buildings in the southern part of the site have been demolished.

Tannery House has been demolished.

House [dated] 1762 (on stone tablet at first floor) with alterations, brown brick with slate roof two storeys three bays. Added front porch entrance with lean-to roof. Window openings with stone sills and skewback heads, formerly with sash windows but now built up. Stone tablet in blank bay at first floor inscribed MM R with the date. Interior: ceiling beams.
