A broad linear cropmark is visible on this aerial photograph.

A broad linear feature up to 10m wide is visible as both a cropmark and a soilmark on this aerial photograph.

The feature is also visible on aerial photographs dating from 1973 (see 3). this may be the remains of a road, however the location of the similarly orientated Roman road from Wigan to Wilderspool is known from excavation and survey c.270m to the north west (see CHER 614/1/1). There is some suggestion from the 1973 photograph that this feature may be the product of a service trench for a pipeline.
