An archaeological evaluation in 2012 identified structural remains (sandstone hard-standing and a wall) to the north-east of Chorley Old Hall, within the moated enclosure, which may represent the remains of a nineteenth century pig cote. A structure/building is depicted in this approximate position on the Tithe Map and on Ordnance Survey historic mapping.
