<1> Historic England & Archaeological Research Services, 2017, Cheshire National Mapping Programme and Lidar Mapping Project: Sampling the Peak Fringe, Cheshire Plain and Mersey Valley, 1599231 & 1597957 (Digital Archive). SCH8172.
Elements of a field system of probable medieval or post medieval origin and potential associated trackways are visible as earthworks centred at approximately SJ 948 793 on historic vertical photography. Some of the features appear to have been levelled by the latest 2010 aerial photography.
The field boundaries consist of a number of earthwork banks and ditches in an approximately rectilinear arrangement, with at least two hollow ways running parallel to the field system. Some of the field boundaries appear to contain areas of ridge and furrow ploughing visible as both extant earthworks and cropmarks on vertical aerial photography and lidar. The ridge and furrow is visible as both broader and narrow forms, suggesting potential post medieval reuse of earlier ploughing. Associated field boundaries define specific areas of the ploughing (2-5).
