Summary

Three sub circular earthworks arranged in a cloverleaf pattern. These may be the emplacements for the searchlights of a Second World War searchlight battery. Alternatively they may be three pits for the extraction of stone or minerals.

Full Description

Three sub-circular depressions or pits are visible on a slight promontory on the hillside behind Higher Kinderfields. They cut through some narrow ridge and furrow.

The pits appear near circular and are arranged in a clover leaf pattern.

These may be small extraction pits, though the cloverleaf arrangement of three circular features is a characteristic feature of Second World War searchlight batteries.
