A probable small military installation, likely a pillbox or gunpost associated with the perimeter defence of the airfield at RAF Burtonwood (UID 1390446) is visible as a group of earthworks and structures centred at SJ 5550 9177, together with a potential associated building, on historic aerial photography. The features have all been levelled or demolished by the latest 2010 vertical imagery. The site comprises a military road linking two sub-circular earthwork emplacements, potentially pill box standings, and a rectilinear building which may be military in function. The line of a barbed wire perimeter is visible, though has been removed by the time of the photography
