Full Description
<1> Penny S, Various, Portable Antiquities Voluntary Recording Scheme Recording Form, 17/04/1999 (Paper Archive). SCH4332.
Stone head carved with well defined but rather schematic facial features. The nose and mouth are particularly detailed and it has large eyes. It is carved from a sandstone block and the side and back of head are unworked. It may belong to the group of stone heads from Britain which on stylistic grounds are termed 'Celtic', but which show continuity into the Post Medieval period. Possibly nineteenth century in date.
