Full Description
<1> Portable Antiquities Scheme, Various, Portable Antiquities Data Import, LVPL-00AAF1 (Digital Archive). SCH5212.
A lead alloy spindle whorl of medieval date, (c. AD1100-1500). The object is circular in plan and bi-conical with a central circular perforation. The perforation has an internal diameter of 10mm. Each face of the object is decorated with a five pointed moulded star which surrounds the perforation. Worn raised pellets decorate the edge of each face in the voids between each point of the star. The spindle whorl is in fair condition and has a light brownish-white patina. Similar examples of spindle whorls have reportedly been found in contexts dated from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period although the majority are typically dated broadly to the medieval period c.1100-1500. Dimensions: 32mm in diameter, 7mm thick, 28.2g. (see 2).

An incomplete copper alloy Corpus Christi, figure from a medieval crucifix. The corpus consists of the body of Christ, with incomplete arms outstretched. Christ's right arm (left when viewed facing) curves upwards and terminates with a rounded break. The left arm (right when viewed facing) is incomplete, broken just below the arched shoulder. The head is tilted to the figure's right and leans on the shoulder. The head is rounded and the facial features are missing. The body curves in an S-shape with the incomplete legs resting one across the other. No details are visible on the torso or limbs. The figure thickens at the waist representing the loincloth details of which are worn. The rear of the object is flat and undecorated. The crucifix has a mid-green patina which is pitted in places. Examples of similar objects which have been recorded on the PAS database include LVPL-80DE19, WMID-E91F61, and WMID-C806F6.Dimensions: 35mm in length, 23mm in width, 4mm thick, 7.1g.
