<2> de Figueiredo P & Treuherz J, 1988, Cheshire Country Houses (Book). SCH785.
Appealing quirky house comprising a central block and long side wings. Central part in brick dates to the mid 18th century.
The wings, probably added around 1768 when new planting was carried out on the estate, extend the garden front by 100 feet. The architect could be William Baker who designed nearby Astbury Rectory. Gate piers added in the 20th century.
<3> Cheshire Gardens Trust, 2011 onwards, Research and Recording Report (Report). SCH6655.
Hall with wings and pavilions built c.1720-68, listed Grade II*: an architectural gem with very few alterations.
