Summary

The tithe map for Chorley (Acton) township depicts a significantly different arrangement of buildings compared to the 1875 Ordnance Survey and later maps. It depicts a large winged building with a possible extension on its northern side, which is possibly the main house. There are three further buildings, probable farm buildings, located to the immediate east.

The tithe map for Chorley (Acton) township depicts a significantly different arrangement of buildings compared to the 1875 Ordnance Survey map (2). It depicts a large winged building with a possible extension on its northern side. This is possibly the main house. There are three further buildings, probable farm buildings, located to the immediate east.

Depicts a square shaped farmhouse with three farm buildings, arranged around a central courtyard, to the immediate south.

The earliest documentary reference (Brookhouse tenement) dates from 1686 and the earliest depiction on a map dates from 1831 (4).
