Full Description

A deposit containing later 14th century pottery and fragments of Medieval ridge tile was recorded in trench 3 below the foundations of a north south section of sandstone wall. The wall was 2.1m long 0.3m wide and 0.8m high. Five courses of sandstone were surviving. During the dismantling of the wall a rim sherd from a Cistercian ware cup dating to the 15th/ 16th century was recovered from the clay bonding which suggests the wall dates to the 15th century or later
