Summary

Excavation of 5 trial trenches prior to the conversion of Chronicle house in 2014. Trenches 1 and 2 exposed the remains of north south aligned brick walls which consisted of handmade bricks in lime mortar. These walls are likely to be associated with building shown on the OS first edition map of Chester dating to 1871. Pottery dating to the 17th and 18th centuryoes was found in these trenches.

Excavation of 5 trial trenches prior to the conversion of Chronicle house to student accommodation in 2014. Trenches 1 and 2 exposed the remains of north south aligned brick walls which consisted of handmade bricks in lime mortar. These walls are likely to be associated with building shown on the OS first edition map of Chester dating to 1871.
