Full Description
<1> Wardell Armstrong Archaeology, 2015, Land at Congleton Road, Sandbach, Cheshire: Archaeological Watching Brief Report, R3817 (Client Report). SCH7944.
Linear ditches and a possible structure (four pits) of potential Roman date discovered on land north of Congleton Road during a watching brief (2015) in advance of a residential development. The majority of possible Roman ditches identified were well preserved and are indicative of a system of agricultural enclosures/fields. The quantities of pottery found in the ditches is suggestive of manuring activity with a settlement nearby.
