Full Description
<1> Portable Antiquities Scheme, Various, Portable Antiquities Data Import, LVPL-822CD8 (Digital Archive). SCH5212.
An incomplete fired ceramic brick, possibly a floor tile, dating from the Medieval to the Post-Medieval period. The object is sub-oval in plan and rectangular in cross-section. The lower face of the object is sandy with occasional oval pits. The upper face is well worn. The object has an orange-red outer fabric with occasional large inclusions. The internal fabric has a wide band of greyish black indicating that it has not been fired all the way through. It has been hard fired. Tile and brick are often difficult to date however the thickness of the object indicates that it may have been intended for more heavy-duty use.
