Full Description
<1> See map for surveyor, c.1837-51, Cheshire Tithe Maps and Awards, EDT 278/2 1838 (Maps and Plans). SCH3266.
The accompanying award describes the fish pond within the grounds of Great Moreton Hall as a 'Mill Pool and Island'. Plot 68, which is located to the immediate west of the pond, which contains a building, is described as 'Mill and Garden'.

Burdett's map of 1777 shows two mills in the Moreton area, but no evidence has been traced.

Burdett's map depicts a mill next to Great Moreton Hall and the fish pond.

The outline of the pond appears to have been slightly remodelled and the island has been reshaped from a sub-square shape to a perfect circle.
