The church was built in1886 to a design by Edmund Kirby and at the expense of Piers Egerton Warburton (of Arley). Full architectural description.

"By Edmund Kirby, better than one expects him to be. The church could easily be Paley & Austen. It is not large, but has a sufficiently dominant central tower."
