Full Description
A number of excavations along Foregate St. have revealed a distinctive soil horizon of orange-red, apparently fire hardened clay, in addition to accumulations of charcoal. This horizon has been exposed at 54 – 60 Foregate St., and below the Tatler Cinema (then known as Swan Court) and the ABC Cinema on Love St. The horizon is dated to the first or second century by finds.
