A cast copper alloy dolphin brooch dating to the Roman period. The object is a hinged example. The wings are tubular and semi-circular in cross-section with a raised stop-ridge at either end. The wings measure 5mm in thickness. The head of the brooch rises up from the wings and tapers downwards forming the bow of the object. The bow is decorated with three vertical undulating mouldings. The foot of the brooch is rounded and incomplete. The catchplate and the pin are missing. The object has a mid-green patina and is pitted. It can be dated from AD55-100.
