Summary

At Domesday, Edwin the Saxon lord was allowed to retain possession of this manor, under the new Norman lord Robert Fitz Hugh. It had land for 2 ploughs. In 1324 the land was given to David de Egerton. The manor passed to the Breretons of Brereton. In the 14th Century the township gave its name to a family.

Full Description

At Domesday, Edwin the Saxon lord was allowed to retain possession of this manor, under the new Norman lord Robert Fitz Hugh. It had land for 2 ploughs. In 1324 the land was given to David de Egerton. The manor passed to the Breretons of Brereton. In the 14th the township gave its name to a family (1). Suggested as the possible site of a deserted medieval village but no evidence for this theory (2).
