Was once told that the oldest house in Ness was Rock Cottage in Well Lane. It reputedly incorporates a medieval cruck beam structure.

Three adjoining buildings are depicted on the the tithe map. The western most building (no longer extant) is described as a Cottage. The central and eastern buildings (which correspond to No.s 1 & 2) are described as a stable.
