A horseman's hammer dated to 1480 and believed to have been found on the 25th November 1892 at Crewe Works.

Battle axe or horseman's hammer discovered on the 25th November 1892 during the extension of Crewe Works westwards from Flag Lane Bridge.

Probably more correctly referred to as a Horseman's axe. Includes hammer (rear) and spike (top) and has a metal haft.
