Please read our .

Summary

A rope walk is recorded at Edgar's Field on nineteenth century maps. It appears to comprise a long narrow path approximately 75m in length along the south bank of the River Dee. A rope walk was a long narrow lane or covered path where long strands of material were laid before being twisted into rope. Rope was essential for sailing ships and may have been a subsidiary industry of Chester's port.
