'Near here [Bowstones Farm] are several gravestones, placed there in 1646, probably in memory of those who died of the plague...On a recent visit to the Bow Stone, I met with three other gravestones bearing these inscriptions:
HEARE. LYETH. THE. BODY. OF. RALPHE. BLAKEWALL. WHO. DYED. IVLY. THE. 29. ANO. DMI. 1646.
HEARE. LYETH. THE. BODY. OF. ELLEN. BLAKEWALL. WHO. DYED. IVLY. THE. 26. ANO. DMI. 1646.
HEARE. LYETH. THE. BODY. OF. ROBERT. BLAKEWALL. WHO. DYED. IVLY. THE. .... ANO. DMI. 1646.'

'...two other small ones [gravestones] have been rescued and replaced against the wall in the next field below Bow Stones farm. These, in crude lettering are inscribed:
HEARE LYETH THE BODY OF ROBERT BLAKEWALL WHO DYED SEP (?) THE - ANO DOM 1646
HEARE LYETH THE BODY OF ---HE BLAKEWALL WHO DYED ANO DOM 1646 MAY THE 26'
