Archaeological investigations to the rear of Trinity Hall, George Street in 2013 identified traces of surviving Roman features at the base of several test pits, however these features were not excavated in detail at this stage.

The investigations identified two Roman layers at the base of test pit 2 to the rear of the site. In test pit 4 in the southwest corner of the site a discrete surface of cobblestones and fragmented sandstones [403] of a probable Roman date was also excavated sealing at least one further layer of Roman date containing fragments of bone, sandstone and Roman material. Finally in test pit 5 to the north of test pit 4, several additional Roman layers were also identified but not examined in detail.
