Archaeological investigations to the rear of Trinity Hall, George Street in 2013 identified post medieval features of an 18th to 19th century date including a 19th century brick structure of uncertain form and function, a well preserved post medieval cobbled surface and a post hole.

The evidence comprised a 19th century brick structural remains [101] from test pit 1 towards the street frontage. The structure measured in excess of 1.3m by 1.8m in plan and was identified at a depth of just 0.12m below the present ground surface and extending to a depth of 1.25m below ground level where the test pit terminated. The Ordnance Survey Town Plans of the mid to late 19th century records several boundary walls but no structures in this area, although a school was added in the early 20th century.

A post medieval cobbled surface [201] was encountered in test pit 2 some distance to the north of test pit 1. The surface was recorded at a depth of 1.1m below present ground level and sealed a second deposit [204] consisting of a 0.35m thick layer of cinders and charcoal.

Finally, in test pit 5 close to the western boundary of the site, a post hole [505] containing post medieval material was found cutting earlier layers.
