A house, held by Alexander Harre, was recorded at the western end of Pierpoint Lane in the mid 13th century. The house comprised a ‘chapel, houses and a garden to the north, in or near Pierpoint Lane’. Alexander Harre was probably a clerk and son of Earl Ranulph III’s nurse Wymark.
In the later 13th century, the Arneway family also owned property in Pierpoint Lane including a chapel and is probably analogous with Harre’s house.
